Simon-Philippe Breton has been active in the wind energy field for almost 20 years. He did his PhD on wind turbine aerodynamics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, after which he did a post-doc at École de technologie supérieure in Montréal, working on the modeling of wind turbine wakes. He thereafter continued to work on this subject for six years as an Associate Professor at Uppsala University in Sweden. He came back to Canada in 2017 to act as a project manager at Nergica, a rewewable energy research center located in Gaspé, working on research and development projects in wind energy. Since 2018, he has been working at the Canadian Meteorological Center in Montréal, where he has been carrying out a project in collaboration with Natural Resources Canada and various partners on improving icing and ramp forecasts for wind and solar energy.
